About this tool
- Where it runs
- On the server: a browser cannot do this kind of work. The file is uploaded only for as long as the job takes and deleted right after — two hours without an account, twenty-four hours with one.
- What it accepts
- video, MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM, AVI, M4V. The type is determined by the file contents, not by its extension.
- Limits
- Up to 2 files at a time, each up to 500 MB, 800 MB in total.
Frequently asked
- Why 24 megabytes and not 25?
- The 25-megabyte limit counts the whole attachment: the container and its bookkeeping ride along, and mail encodes everything in base64 on top. Hitting the limit exactly means not passing it.
- Will quality drop a lot?
- It depends on length: a one-minute clip survives almost untouched, an hour-long recording turns into mosaic. If the picture would become unreadable at the requested size, we refuse and say so instead of handing you mush.
- My file is already under 24 megabytes — what then?
- We return it untouched. Re-encoding something that already fits only costs quality.
