Document for sending
Word, Excel or a deck becomes a PDF and is compressed right away — so the attachment fits through mail and the layout survives the trip.
Up to 5 files, 50 MB each
About this tool
- Where it runs
- On the server: a browser cannot do this kind of work. The file is uploaded only for as long as the job takes and deleted right after — two hours without an account, twenty-four hours with one.
- What it accepts
- DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, DOC, XLS, PPT, ODT, ODS, ODP, RTF, TXT. The type is determined by the file contents, not by its extension.
- Limits
- Up to 5 files at a time, each up to 50 MB, 100 MB in total.
Frequently asked
- How much smaller will it get?
- It depends on what is inside: a document full of scans and photos loses a lot of weight, plain text with tables almost none — there is nothing to squeeze. If the gain is under three percent we return the uncompressed PDF: a rebuilt document of the same size is quality lost for nothing.
- Will the images inside suffer?
- We use the e-book profile: pictures are re-encoded to a resolution that is fine for reading on screen. Not for a print shop, perfectly fine for reading and signing.
- What if I need PDF/A for an archive?
- Use the “Documents to PDF” tool and tick the box there — the archival format embeds fonts and forbids external links, so compressing it afterwards makes no sense.
