Good at
- Stores losslessly at any colour depth

- Files are very large
- Browsers do not display it
- So many internal variants that another program may not open your TIFF

Good at
- Lossless: pixels stay exactly as they were
- Full transparency, including soft semi-transparent edges
- Opens everywhere without exception — the format is nearly thirty years old
Awkward about
- Photos weigh several times more than in JPEG or WebP
- No animation: APNG support is far from universal
Use it when
- Screenshots, diagrams, logos — anything with sharp edges and text
- When you need transparency
- When the image will be edited further

- No. TIFF → PNG runs right in your browser and the file never leaves your device. It only goes to a server if the browser cannot cope — and then we delete it within a couple of hours.
- Will transparency survive?
- Yes, PNG supports transparency, so semi-transparent edges stay as they were.
- Can I get the original quality back afterwards?
- Yes, PNG supports lossless compression, so you can go back to the original.
- How many files, and how large?
