About this tool
- Where it runs
- On the server: a browser cannot do this kind of work. The file is uploaded only for as long as the job takes and deleted right after — two hours without an account, twenty-four hours with one.
- What it accepts
- video, MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM, AVI, M4V. The type is determined by the file contents, not by its extension.
- Limits
- Up to 2 files at a time, each up to 500 MB, 800 MB in total.
Frequently asked
- Why does it refuse when I set a small size?
- Because the recording would only fit as a mosaic. We work out how much bitrate is left for the picture, and if that is not enough for watchable video we say so upfront instead of handing you a blurry file. Raise the limit or trim the video.
- Will the result definitely fit the size I set?
- Almost always: the bitrate is calculated for your limit and the encode runs in two passes precisely to hit it. If it does miss, you see that in the result rather than finding out when you try to send the file.
